Default Immigrant Birth Rates: Texas vs. CA

I don't know about your perspective, Lakewooder, but I see this as one sad situation!

Did you make any attempt to actually READ the article before posting this?

Quote:
While the political cultures and religious traditions of Texas and California differ, the two huge states share fast-growing immigrant populations who are especially at risk of teen childbearing.

Erandy Gonzalez, 17, of Oak Cliff, could almost be the poster girl for Texas' challenges. She is Hispanic, and Hispanics by far have the highest teen birth rates of any ethnic group. She is the mother of a 15-month-old girl and is pregnant again.

In 2004, Hispanic girls ages 15 to 19 accounted for 61 percent of teen births even though only 39 percent of Texas adolescents were Hispanic, according to the federal National Center for Health Statistics.

The article does touch on immigration, and the unspoken link here (which everyone who pays taxes in either state already knows about) is that more Hispanic illegals = more teen births. Fact.

The article isn't itself about immigrants coming into the country. It's centered around Hispanic girls having children at young ages and educating them about diseases and such. I don't see why this is such a big deal.

And 70% of the births at the Dallas County Hospital, Parkland, are to illegal aliens. Prologic are you willing to foot the bill?

I hope he is, because I sure as hell am not. Easy to be sanctimonious when you don't have to reach into your own pocket, that's for sure!

I wouldn't use tax dollars to pay for it. But what is the hospital supposed to do? I think its against the law to reject someone in critical condition regardless of their financial/citizenship situation.

Since you are a very active poster, it would be helpful to the discussion if you would take time to acquire an at least passing familiarity with issue such as this.
