Here is a link to a story about the boycott of the Diamondbacks:
Arizona Immigration Boycott Zeroes in on Baseball - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
I used to live in Reno before moving to AZ. I tried to make a fuss about the Reno Aces employing illegal aliens. They did it through the use of a contractor who supplied stadium cleaning crews which included the illegals. The General Manager would not use E-Verify or require their contractors to use it.
The Reno Aces are the farm team of what major league team? You guessed it - the Diamondbacks.
I would bet the Dbacks themselves employ illegals, so the boycott of the team should only cause mixed feelings at best. In other words, what comes around goes around.
I would suspect some of the other businesses, like hotels, that are being boycotted also employ illegals. So this dark cloud (boycott) may actually have a silver lining.
This could also be described as unintended consequences, or be careful what you wish for, or the perfect squelch, or, well you can probably think of some new apt descriptions of this irony.
I would like to join the Hispanic open borders lobbyists in calling for a boycott of these AZ businesses that employ illegals. See 'ya on the picket line!
