BORDERLINE BIGOTS

Mexico Tells Immigrants: “No Way, José”

Published June, 2009
WORDS AND PHOTOS BY LUIS AGUILAR

Each year hundreds of thousands of optimistic South and Central Americans travel north to see whether things might be less crappy for them in the United States. The problem is they have to cross Mexico to get there. And Mexico is riddled with inhospitable local authorities and migrants who are as eager as they are possessive of the American passage. Both groups treat Southern transients the same way US authorities treat illegal Mexican aliens: like human refuse.[/quote]

Mexican immigration officers frequently stop Central and South Americans for a special brand of abuse and hassle, and travelers without proper documentation must rely on their inner Mexicality to dodge deportation. To prove their citizenship, they are required to complete tasks like singing the national anthem and answering historical and regional questions. Here, an official questions an immigrant from Guatemala.

Often Guatemalans make the mistake of buying fake Mexican birth certificates, they think if they have a birth certificate showing they were born in Chiapas, they can pass for Mexicans but they would be smarter if they would obtain the IFE card. That's how you try to pass yourself as a Mexican citizen if you want to be in Mexico illegally. The Mexican army guys patrolling the desert will haul in Guatemalans when they act like the birth certificate is some kind of proof of Mexican citizenship.

"the same way US authorities treat illegal Mexican aliens: like human refuse" Actually, no. Our Border Patrol agents take great care not to violate the illegal aliens' human rights. The Constitution requires it.

Yes, it would be illegal for the border patrol and police to mistreat illegals!!! Hah! the one law that illegals think must be obeyed.
