Phoenix Business Journal: 'Viva los 1070' shirt rankles Suns security
Quote:
Jim Clark, CEO of Republic Monetary Exchange (http://phoenix.bizjournals.com/phoenix/blog/business/2010/05/www.republicmonetary.com - broken link) in Phoenix, got two seats to Game 2 and decided to don an orange shirt that read ‘Viva los 1070’ for the game. Clark said a friend who has a professional security background also wore the shirt. It was in response to the Suns’ opposition to Arizona’s immigration law (Senate Bill 1070).
....
Clark said he and his friend were approached by security guards early in the game at US Airways Center and asked to take the shirts off or turn them inside out.

Remember: It is only offensive if you SUPPORT America! /sarcasm
Mr. Clark had every right to wear that shirt to show his support for the law. If the Suns are allowed to wear "Los Suns" to show their position on the law, why can't a fan?
It's a shame that after reading this story and the one with the kids being sent home for wearing the American flag, that we have considered anything patriotic or supporting of American law "offensive".
I wonder how long it will take before people start demanding American flags be removed from flag poles because they are "offensive" to certain folk?

I'm getting a little tired of all this nonsense. This is America, a nation of laws which seem to only apply to an illegal aliens' advantage. Preposterous!

It's well past time that Americans consider a unified boycott against public and private entities which endorse illegal immigration.
Hitting these organizations where it hurts the most would be the best method for communicating our support for legal immigration - particularly as this favors the demographic with highest disposable incomes.
Act now or lose your country, it's really that simple.

The Phoenix Suns are a private corporation, they are not public entity. In purchasing a ticket one is expected to comport themselves in an apprpriate maner for the venue and event. The security staff had every right to ask the gentleman to remove the offensive shirt, and the wayward fan was expected to comply or leave.

Yes. And, as Econolodge poster stated, people have every right to boycott those who engage in such discrimination. "Act now or lose your country," is how I believe he put it! Legal Immigrants, Citizens of the U.S. it is time to start Boycotting Back! Money Talks!!!

It is good all this is coming out in the open finally. More and more Americans are waking up to the illigal problem and can only take so much of this in your face attitude. This is our country we make the rules and laws not the illigals
