From the Arizona Republic:

Illegals feel too much hostility in Arizona to stay (but claim they won't go back to Mexico...just head to another state).

Arizona immigration law could drive Latinos out of state

Adriana Miranda leaned against the door frame and started to sob. Her husband hasn't found steady work in a year. Then, on Friday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the tough anti-illegal-immigration law that will allow police to arrest illegal immigrants like her. It was the last straw. After seven years in Arizona, the family was moving.

Phoenix resident Adamaris, a 22-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico, said she thinks many illegal immigrants will leave Arizona. "The economy is already bad here, and now with this new law ...," she said. "No, we don't want to stay here." Adamaris, who asked that her last name not be used because she is afraid of being deported, said she plans to wait two months to see if the law survives legal challenges before deciding whether to leave.

Is this bad news?

But it gets better...because now lawyers are avoiding Arizona too...

Arizona immigration bill: Lawyers group to boycott Arizona

The American Immigration Lawyers Association has vowed to boycott the state of Arizona, canceling their fall national convention at the Scottsdale Marriott...The venue's penalty for canceling the event is approximately $92,000...

And The Arizona Hotel & Lodging Association said the estimated economic value of the cancellations ranges from $5,000 for the smaller groups to $45,000 for the larger.

Arizona's immigration law has ripple effect

So, the boycott has cost $45,000 in cancellations but the lawyers have to pay $92,000 for cancelling.

Split the difference? Illegals AND lawyers leaving Arizona in waves...can the news get any better?

Hmmmm

from one article:

"Mark Qualia, a spokesman for the CBP, said the number of illegal immigrants caught trying to cross the southwestern border has been steadily declining since 2005, when about 1.2 million illegal immigrants were apprehended. In 2009, he said, the number dropped to about 541,000".

and from the other one:

"More than 100,000 undocumented immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years because of the bad economy and earlier enforcement crackdowns"

No work - they leave.

Somebody down there is employing them.

Hopefully Texas has stepped up the Border Patrol presence out west.

Well, in fairness to San Francisco...the voters there overwhelmingly approve of higher taxes in order to "help out the less fortunate." They don't have a problem with it and since I don't live in that city, neither do I.

Perhaps they won't think it's a bad thing if more illegals come to their city. It's one thing, however, to be an illegal immigrant who is willing to work hard to provide a better life for their family. It's quite another (and I believe the final straw for AZ) when the criminal activity gets out of control. When San Francisco residents start to see shoot-outs on their freeways between rival gangs of coyotes wanting to hold another van full of illegals for ransom...when their nice homes and neighborhood start to fill up with illegal immigrant drop houses, when drug cartels start kidnapping so many residents that San Francisco becomes the 2nd highest kidnapping capital in the world...I'll be willing to bet they change their minds. It's easy to judge a city from thousands of miles away.

Less lawyers and less illegal aliens! Damn, I wish my state would pass such a law.
