ABC News has made the following analysis of immigration facts about the southern border of the U.S.
More than 646 miles of the border are protected by fence, according to Customs and Border Protection.
More than 20,000 border patrol agents serve on the front lines -- an 80 percent increase over 2004 and the largest number in history.
The number of illegal immigrants apprehended along the border, which CBP uses to gauge the flow of migrants, is down nearly 55 percent from 2005. The agency captured 540,865 last year.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained and deported a record 387,790 unauthorized immigrants across the U.S. in 2009, and is on pace to set a new record in 2010.
the overall size of the U.S. illegall immigrant population -- 62 percent of which hails from Mexico -- continues to decline. The U.S. unauthorized population in 2009 was 10.8 million, down from a peak of 11.8 million in 2007.
In many of the U.S. border communities themselves, local law enforcement officials report violent- and property-crime rates that have fallen over the past year, and, in several cases, are among the lowest in the country.
ABC news. ROFL. Where are the headless bodies coming from? Why are Mexicans trying to flee into our country if the violence is not real? Tell that to the poor farmer who lost his life on his own land. If we do not pull away from the media we are all sheeple running for the cliff.
Funny numbers at best. How do they count the illegals? Errr uhmmmm well we count how many dumb ones that let us catch them, factor in the almost caught ones. Those who we saw but ran faster than our agents could. We subtract the ones who had drugs on them because they aren't illegals they are just drug smugglers. We lick our finger hold it up in the wind and take a wild azz guess.

ILLEGAL mexicans are destroying this country, have NO respect for our laws and think they own the southwest. Every single one should be runded up and deported. They can get in line and apply LEGALLY.

You know what is really funny is a large majority of the victims of illegal Mexican immigrant criminals are other Mexicans but the libs do ot care. All they care about is if the illegals can disrespect our laws and hope to vote Democrat.
