Sorry. I just don't agree. I understand the writer's point but illegals are a drain on our society. Medically and educationally are two prime examples. We need to take care of our own people first before we open the floodgates and let the world in.
Open borders? We may as well send an invitation to terrorist organizations to invade. There's a reason borders exist, especially with a powerful country like us that has so many enemies around the world.
I like how the illegal construction workers are helping our economy by giving the suppliers of building materials work. What a cycle!
If only American's could do those jobs... sigh...
Many worry that if America opened its borders now, millions would come, the welfare burden would be unsustainable and society would collapse. Yet such fears are misplaced. Most people don't want to leave home at all, let alone forever. Since 2004 three rich European countries--Britain, Ireland, and Sweden--have allowed people in eight poor eastern European countries (notably Poland) to come work there freely. All 75 million of those eastern Europeans could have moved, yet only 1 million did--and half have already gone home.
Ted Kennedy said something similar after the passage of the 1965 immigration act. We now know that never happened.
The illegals are just like locust..They swarm in and eat the plants they didnt plant and then move on to something else...Just like locust. We need some kind of bug spray.
The elites want their dirt cheap labor. They want their big fast profits from low paid labor and that's why they want unlimited immigration - so they can keep bringing in the very cheapest labor force they can find.
