If you are thinking of moving to Belleville, I would just go about 13 miles down 255 and cross the bridge into Missouri. Illinois will tax the bejesus out of you. Property taxes are absurd. Check out realtor.com. $4,000 taxes on 200,000 houses. Not to mention a 7 something sales tax plus income tax and gas 20 cents higher than across the river. Illinois is going to hell with the democratic leadership we have had.

I think Belleville may have an 8.6 percent sales tax. I went to Lowes yesterday and noticed the tax rate was 8.6. Unless they're adding a percentage point to pay for that new Green Commons little mall or something.

Agree about Blagojevich...I can't believe I voted for him. He's gonna turn out to be as big a crook as Ryan.

p.s. I guess the thing to do is stop bothering with the new Belleville Lowes and go back to Fairview Heights. The distance is about the same, but why pay another percentage in taxes? Is this to pay for another art festival downtown?

Everything you read about Belleville is true .....

Belleville is a divided town .....

Troy , St. Jacob and several towns are very nice .

O'fallon is nice , Shioh , Edwardsville , Glen Carbon , Maryville

are other good towns ......Living in Illinois and moving to these

towns you better have $$$$$$$$ , because nothing is cheap.
