Hello everyone,

I am hoping to be accepted into grad school at SIU-E next year and will have a middle schooler at that time. I have been to the district website and looked at both middle schools, and where I look for an apartment will be largely determined by which middle school will be the best fit for my child. What I would like to hear is feedback from parents who currently have or recently had children at either middle school and hear your experiences. I can find statistics, test scores, sports info, etc on the web, but I'd like to hear more about the culture of the schools themselves - which school has the most involved, caring, supportive teachers? Involved administration? Does one school have more of an issue with drugs or violence than the other? Which school has the best extracurricular activities (art, music, book clubs, etc)? Or would you say both schools are equally good?

This is information you can only find from parents and students who have been there and been involved. Thanks for your help!

Hi, Annie: My daughter attended Lincoln Middle School and, in high school, volunteered in DARE programs at Liberty Middle School. Our opinion is that either school will provide your daughter with a warm and caring environment, involved administration, good faculty and plenty of activities and events. The biggest difference between the two is that Liberty is new and is located very close to the new YMCA Meyer Center, which might be of help if you're looking for after school programs.
