My wife and I are moving there after renting for most of our lives. Can we expect an investment in a home in Carbondale to be flat or can we expect moderate growth? We had been told that there was growth in the Carbondale area because folks outside the area saw the attractiveness of living hear the Shawnee National Forest.

No doubt you are going to see growth. It will be moderate on a year by year basis though. For long term growth I think you are getting in to a good area.

I can see the Carbondale/Marion area becoming quite populated. It is a wonderful area and Carbondale is an extremely nice place. Good choice.

My wife aned I moved in in August of 08. Awesome town. Nice people. Great restaurants. Quiet. Easy drive to shopping etc. We have a gorgeous house that did not break the bank and are very happy here.

Good luck.
