How is a leaf any more harmful then grain and juice

They're all technically plants
Due to the chemical reaction that occurs when the leaf is set on fire and smoked.

Moderate alcohol use isn't bad. Neither is moderate marijuana use. That is that. It doesn't cause cancer and doesn't kill brain cells... Also, out of all the stupid destructive things people do in this society, I think marijuana should be the last thing people get so worked up about.

Why did you only point out what occurs with marijuana and now with fermented juice/grains mixed with alcohol?

There is a lot still unknown about the effects of pot. From what I have read, even moderate use can have adverse effects.

Yes, I believe legalization is a pragmatic and intelligent route to take on the issue.

Default A little knowledge is a dangerous thing

Keep reading....and try to find unbiased studies. Not easy, and usually not from this country, since the DEA doesn't allow non-government backed studies on what is still an illegal and over controlled substance, but they do exist.

I think the poll is biased toward legaliztion. The numbers would be different if the poll included "Medical use only." i would vote it and I do ot believe I would be alone. I don't think science and research knows enough about the brain to make many statements of fact. I would like to know something more practical like why Alzheimer's Disease kills brain cells? If pot and alcohol kills brain cells, too, does it take the same path as Alzheimer's? is alcohol or pot a marker for Alzheimer's? Could the red wine touted as "good for the heart' be a contributing factor in the speed that Alzheimers developes? There are too many unknown facts to make blanket statements.

According to Drug War Facts, the answer is 0.

"An exhaustive search of the literature finds no credible reports of deaths induced by marijuana. The US Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) records instances of drug mentions in medical examiners' reports, and though marijuana is mentioned, it is usually in combination with alcohol or other drugs. Marijuana alone has not been shown to cause an overdose death. "

"We also find that the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50%) of THC is 1,270mg/kg for male rats. Doing the arithmetic for humans, we find that it takes about 300gm of pure THC to acheive lethality in 50% of the test cases, which amounts to roughly 30,000 marijuana cigarettes (assuming 10mg per cigarette).
Under the circumstances, we can honestly say that THC and marijuana in general is not directly very toxic to humans at all, and it's no surprise that there are no recorded, substatiated fatalities resulting from marijuana/THC overdose."
