Hello Everyone,

I've gone through all the threads but I haven't found much information about
ISU MBA in Finance. I'm an international student planning to apply to ISU for fall 2012. I would like to know from people who been there or studied in ISU about the finance department. Other important thing is about the placement offers in whether it is possible to get in big city like chicago . My goal is get a job in corporate finance field in some good banking firm.
And last but not least how is the location Normal IL ??

Any response is highly appreciated.

Br,
Vidhu

If you already worked at one of the nearby insurance companies or a downstate manufacturing firm it might make sense to get an MBA from ISU but otherwise it is probably not the smartest career move.

The overall environment in the Normal / Bloommington area is pretty typical for the midwest -- some local businesses that are aligned with relatively healthy companies are doing OK and folks that work in the higher end manufacturing roles are fine, but for folks whose jobs can be done more cheaply by unskilled laborers in SE Asia the future looks pretty grim...

There are better schools for those with the credentials to get into a competitive Finance program. If you wanted to pursue something more directly transferable to insurance (like acturarial studies) ISU is probably a better choice.

The ISU Actuary program is one of the 13 best in NORTH America. Factually most the MBAs hired by the insurance industry in Bloomington are ISU graduates. AFAIK ISU also offers the doctorate in Finance, too.

This coming fall ISU is orrering a Corporate MBA in Chicago. The details have not been announced.

It would be really great if they offer their program in Chicago. But i haven't seen it in their website.

I believe it was in the adminstrators message. If you dig deep enough you should be able to find it. It is one sentence.
