I'll be moving to Springfield, IL from southern IL in three weeks. I need to find a SAFE, 2 bedroom apartment for my young family. I only plan on living in the apartment for a year and then buying. I am looking for an apartment/townhouse with washer/dryer hook up that possibly has a playground or a park near by. I am going up there in a week to tour the area and would like to lock on housing. Rent range $500-$700
Since I am coming from a small town Springfield seems large and a little scary to me! Sounds silly to big city folks I am sure.

You are moving from corn and beans smack dab into the heart of Illinois politics. Do pay attention to street signs; IL 29 N/S and streets around the capitol buildings are one-way. I don't know everything available for kids but Knight's Waterpark, Henson Zoo and Lake Springfield are favorites.
