Where does everyone go out, hang out at on the weekends? I am going to be purchasing a place in Forest Park, right near lake street. Last night around mid night I left lake view and headed to lake street by the movie theatre, then drove past madison, west of harlem. The places were dead, not a peep, maybe one person I saw. I know you can't compare it do the city, but I didn't think it would be THAT dead. Or did I look in the wrong area?

Downtown Oak Park has some stuff, but I don't know what it's like at midnight. People in the suburbs don't tend to go out as late. I would be schlupping it into the city for nightlife if I lived in Forest Park. I would more likely not live in the burbs if I wanted nightlife, though.

Are you joking?? You need to spend more time there. Maybe you were there at a bad time. Forest Park-Oak Park is one of the best areas in the suburbs for going out.

Lake St in Oak Park is mostly restaurants which are pretty much closed by midnight. Oak Park was historically a dry town so there are still very few bars to attract the late night crowd. Check out Madison St in Forest Park which has tons of bars open till 2.

The places in Forest Park on Madison have a history of attracting a "sports bar" following. Some of the bigger crowds have been after late night basketball / hockey games but I suspect that with shifts in population even that may be changing...
