I would not want to dissuade you in any way. Texas is hot all summer and most of the time mild in the winter. Yesterday I asked my friend in Dallas what the temperature was about 4pm. He said 34F. Mine was -8F. I believe I said, "I hate you." It won't take long to warm to 70F. What I hope you will do before you move in look at how Texas taxes business and business vehicles. It is very different. You might also check and see if/how Texas taxes SS, SSI, and pension benefits? Illinois does not. Real estate taxes are no lower than Cook County - the 17th lowest of 25 in Illinois. The only counties lower are in southern Illinois.
