Ahhh, the joys of living out further West. No lake-effect clouds.

Woke up this morning to about 1/2" of powder! It melted off pretty quick in the morning sun though. Got a little more sun in the afternoon, but now its overcast in anticipation of the big storm tomorrow. I guess we're supposed to see up to 6"!

Yeah well the lake is fighting of the snow storm. The city is not going to get hit like the north and west burbs are going to be!

We got about 5" max last night. But right now, as Skilling forecasted, the winds are howling like mad and the temps have plummeted. I wouldnt be surprised if the temps were below 0 with the windchill right now.

This storm has kicked this country's butt! I read that Lake Tahoe got 43" (!!!!) of snow yesterday, and Flagstaff, AZ, got 30"+. Blizzards and whiteout conditions in the Great Plains. Massive winds in AZ, NM and TX, including snow and ice in areas. A town in TX (Guadalupe Bowl) recorded, get this, a 105 mph wind yesterday! LOL DANG!!!!

A few images from the December 8/9 winter storm near Rockford.
