Being from here, I have a hard time comparing Springfield to either St. Louis or Chicago. I definitely take more trips to STL than Chicago though.

Springfield is closer to St. Louis (roughly 90 miles vs 200 miles) so is likely more influenced by St. Louis (hence higher ratio of Cardinal fans).

I stand corrected. As a Cardinal fan, maybe I just notice more Cubs fans when I'm there.

They're easier to notice because they are more obnoxious

The Cards/Cubs line is north of Springfield, as well as the soda/pop line.

And in general, Chicago is in a league of its own. There is no other Midwestern city that remotely approaches it in terms of size, culture, lifestyle, vibrancy, etc. From a Springfielder's perspective, adjusting to StL would probably be easier than Chicago.

Springfield isn't like either one. Glad I left.
