The top 5 worst run states all voted for Hillary and are democrat states. All with hemoragging budget due to too many handouts for the poor. #1 is California the cesspool of America.

Vision33r makes a very valid point. Additionally, if we remove the statistics regarding gun violence from Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Newark, the USA suddenly has relatively low crime involving firearms.

The Democratic leadership is failing in every way. The Republicans just elected a crappy reality TV star. Seriously? Both parties are in utter decay. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Someone didn't click the link. Alabama and Mississippi certainly didn't go for Hillary last month, nor are they considered to be blue states. Expanding the list to the top 10 worst run states, 6 of them went Republican last month.

As for California, it was ranked 16th, so it was far closer to the best run than the worst.

California is one of the largest economies in the world just by itself. California pays far more to the federal govt in taxes than it gets back. Mississippi and Alabama are the exact opposite.

...You're actually very wrong...
Like EXTREMELY.
There is no universe that exists where this statement is true.

Mod cut.

Trump and Hilary actually SPLIT the bottom 10.

Mod cut.

ANYWAY,

I wouldn't disagree with the OPs statement BUT Illinois has a pretty diverse economy. Can't wholly exist on it's own but if it bit the bullet on many of its pension woes it could see itself in a good place years from now.

Default You are smarter than that...

Mod cut: Orphaned (quoted post has been deleted).

As I've said many times before, the degree to which the government tries to interfere in the daily lives of people is why I mostly support "small l" libertarian principles. In my view when those principles are violated by either nut cases in California or nutty Rahm Emanuel in his crusade against a chicken sandwich chain's "values" that makes it easier for people to become polarized and line up behind efforts that have NO PLACE in a nation that has long been the best at responding to efforts to balance the rights of all...

The future direction of Chicago will be shaped by the ability of people like Rahm to reign in his tendencies to rub people the wrong way; it would be a terrible shame if some incompetent populist unseats Rahm and the city ends up with somebody who has rabid support of not very thoughtful hordes at rallies but cannot speak the language necessary to continue to have bond issuers finance the fiscal needs of the city.

The level of insider corruption that continues while Madigan clings to his Speaker role and Rauner largely tries to use his own financial backing of opposition legislators to take the place the mindless foot soldiers who have milked their cushy government jobs is a sad statement about how ineffective politics can be...

+1 it has become painfully clear that the Democrats are the cause of problems not solution to problems especially in Illinois.

Not sure why my response to your post was deleted while yours was not, but the GOP runs more than its fair share of train wrecks, including the U.S. government where they control both Chambers. It's not always Democrats vs. Republicans. Often it's self-serving politicians who appeal to peoples emotions, creating a divide between people identify as Democrats or Republicans.
