Hi everyone,
I'm just posting this in case I get lucky and someone who reads this knows something about Mt. Morris.

I live in Florida and my elderly (late 70's) neighbor has shared with me that she plans to move back to this area of IL in the spring--alone--with no help. I am alarmed to say the least. She doesn't know what to do with her things, she doesn't know how to search Google for info and she is getting very limited help from a sibling. She is moving because she can't afford where we are here, but also because she was born in Illinois and wants to die in Illinois. She hinted that she is not well, and would like to be buried where her own parents are.

She has very limited means, and is looking for safe, low-income housing for herself and her cat. Of course, I'm going to make a bunch of calls tomorrow and see what I can do. Just wondering if anyone here has any insider info or experience with low-income housing in the area.

Thanks

I don't know about elderly housing, but I am familiar with Mt. Morris and Ogle County. If it must be Illinois for her, this is one of the best places she could pick. It's solid Republican, has little diversity, and it's virtually free of crime. You needn't worry about her.

Wow...you responded.... THANK YOU! That's so reassuring. That's what she wants. Safe, quiet, small.

Have a wonderful day. :-)

I lived twice near that area. It is very nice area but does she know what property taxes are. That would be my only concern and it is older area so there probably is a lot of older folks.

Post My husband just showed me a house in Mt Morris

I really cannot find much info about the town, Are there any stores there? How far is a decent sized town? Also, where do people there go to the hospital? Thanks very much.

Thank you, kind folks, for your replies to my post.

I've gotten some notifications about replies to it, so I wanted to come back and say that it is now over two years old and I'm no longer involved in this situation.

Take care, all, and Happy 2019. :-)

Love it here in Mt. Morris. I just moved here from Freeport a few months ago & it's like the difference between night & day. Peaceful, quiet & a very scenic area. I don't see myself ever wanting to leave
