I live out in the county in Towanda Illinois on 26 acres. Nearest big city is Bloomington /Normal 10 miles away. I owe still $ 80,000 on my house. I'm needing to make the most profit from my property. Can I divide up my land my home sit on and sell maybe 1 or 2 acre lots? I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thank so MUCH!!!

You can sell it all. You can sell one acre or you ca subdivide it. You will need a lawyer and you will have to survey the area you want to sell. Having bought property unimproved and with some utilities, the lots with some utilities will see better. Unless you have city water and gas, I would at minimum, put a night light at the back of each acre you sell. It is a good investment because electricity brinngs a better offer than no utilities. The downside is it the cash outlay before you sell anything. Do check for county ordinances and whether or not you can sell off part of your acreage. Accss/ingress to the acreage you want to sell is always an issue, roo. Well and septic are issues too. In some states, parcels with a well and septic cannot be smaller than 3/4 acre. Talk to a real estate lawyer first. It may save you a lot of trouble.
