Well the fact that SB 6 passed the House and they actually appear to be working together towards a resolution is significant progress

If you've lived here as long as I have, you know that "appearances" mean absolutely nothing when it comes to the mind boggling dysfunction of the Illinois democratic party...no matter what they might or might not do, or if they sign/pass something, do you really think that will fix anything in this god forsaken nightmare of a state??

Pretty sure they will push this through before July 4 and that a 4.95% state income tax will accompany it (the same rate I quoted in the article I linked in the second post of this thread two weeks ago)

So the thieves in the house passed it, but Rauner has pledged to veto (Thank God!). How many votes would be required to override his veto (assuming it makes it through the senate)?

Madigan's House approves major income tax hike as Republicans break with Rauner - Chicago Tribune
I'm a liberal but it's total BS. Holy hell, a 2% income tax hike in addition to the insane taxes all across the spectrum? I have to side with Rauner here. The workers comp bs being thrown out the window is not an unreasonable request, and a temporary tax hike is much easier for taxpayers to swallow. I wish Madigan would go away. He's an unmitigated failure and morbidly toxic for Illinois.

Except it's a 1.2% increase (3.75 to 4.95) and Rauner 'supposedly' backed it two weeks ago.

Not sure how people expect there to be no income tax increase given the state's financial woes?
