Ruiner added more unpaid bills in two years than the last 18 years COMBINED! The guy can’t govern.

It's easy to blame Madigan for everything. Heck, Rauner has been doing it for years. He seems to be forgetting that several previous GOP governors were able to not only work with Madigan, but actually get capital plans and state agencies funded. His best campaign bet may be to argue that he's gotten four years on the job training. Electing another candidate with no experience would give us four more rotten years.

I don't understand how you can pat other governors on the back for working with Madigan when all it did was pass unbalanced budgets that overpromised and overspent. Hell I can do that no problem. There's a reason why we have massive debts, underfunded pensions, etc. and that's 100% cause of Madigan and cause no governor stood up to him before. So I applaud Bruce for having the you know what to do that...unfortunately it was Madigan once again who was 100% responsible for no budget for 2 years and massive debts added to the books...but it all got blamed on Rauner since he's governor.

However, I'm also reasonable enough to say that Rauner has not really accomplished anything fiscally responsible (admitting I don't really understand the school funding bill). Do something as little as selling the Thompson Center would give me confidence he can get stuff done but unfortunately I think it would be 4 more years of blaming Madigan...which is correct...but leading to no results. Rahm even said he was frustrated by how difficult Rauner was being on selling the Thompson Center. He needs to take to the streets organizing rallies, marches, protests and start sounding angry to get voters riled up and drop this folksy Steve Forbes image.

I don't trust Pritzker so far either...

Their mistake which turned out very well for Illinois didn't it? I don't want a governor that is going work with and surrender to Democrat racketeers bent on inflicting more misery on the people.

Great point. Also, Rauner has really failed to set up a base for success. He needs to get candidates in the General Assembly and Senate who will support his agenda and override Madigan on the floor. His efforts have been lukewarm, to say the least.

Probably the biggest reason for his failure and an indication of his inexperience in political matters. He doesn't know how it works! Would you hire a truck driver who has never driven a truck or been to. Training class? Not me, but a lot of voters did four years back.

This point is very true, and we're seeing it play out on multiple levels in the U.S. Being a good businessman/woman does not automatically translate to being good at governing.

Thanks to Jeanie Ives, conservative, family values, you won't be seeing him again. You'll get Pritzger. Hopefully it works out for the best.

"Thanks to Jeanne Ives" my ass. Her candidacy wouldn't have had so much traction if it weren't for Rauner's galactic failures of governance and leadership. When Rauner loses in November, the #1 reason for his loss will be Bruce Rauner.

Oh, I'm not saying he was a success as governor. He'd have had an uphill battle regardless. But I still think he might have won over a mediocre and dangerous Pritzker had Ives not stirred up the ire of conservatives.

Let's face it, her infamous ad and her strong position against illegals, the transgendered, abortion, and the CTU really spoke to a lot of them and got them hoppin' mad. Rauner banked on downstate conservatives having nowhere else to go as he supported and signed these measures, and deliberately distanced himself from Trump in order to cater to the Chicagoland blue voters, and give himself a "Democrat-lite" image.

This blew up in his face though. Ives, albeit crudely, gave them somewhere else to go, and played their indignation well. They won't switch back now. And Chicagoland would vote for Joseph Stalin if he ran here due to the anti-Trump sentiment on the left, their fiscal well-being be darned.
