lolol like they are going to do that. They will just raise the income tax and leave property taxes alone.

There is talk of jacking up taxes on retirees. Remember Rauner wanted to do this. Since they have no jobs to keep them, they will move out quicker, accelerating the exodus.

retirement distributions pay zero, and they also pay absurdly low property taxes, seniors are far and away the most wealthy demographic, they should pay something right?

how do seniors in your area become eligible to pay low property taxes?

There are several types, most common is the senior homestead exemption. Here is a link to the Senior assessment freeze-

PS-Aww, I read the provisions. They're not as great as I was hoping for. Plus, she's in DuPage Cty.

NY state is not losing population but IL does join CT, WV, and PR in the “states losing population” category.
