Won't raising the the smoking age turn young adults under the age of 21 who already smoke into criminals or the people who end up buying it for them?

Smoking cigarettes shouldn't ever happen. I am sorry that it ever happened to me. Anything that can be done to discourage it is right in my book. Anything nicotine based should be discouraged. Smoking cigarettes started for me as a way to relax, and I think it only made me more irate long-term.

I think smoking is really bad but I hate this new age restriction.

I wouldn't recommend anyone start smoking but people are going to do what they're going to do. People will probably be smuggling in the same amount of cigs from NWI or possibly more now... who knows

The reason they raised the min. age to 21 is because of upcoming weed legalization.

How does it look:
Can smoke tabacco at 18 but cannot smoke weed, eventhough tabacco is more harmful

It has already been 21 in many suburbs for years.

Slightly off topic, but one of the problems with the legalization of marijuana has been that it has not done anything to quash the illicit/black market in the places that it has been legalized.
