I didn't vote for him, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. As of today, looks like all his initiatives are in a death spiral. Only a little over a week left in session and no votes scheduled (AFAIK) on any of his major initiatives?

Appears even a Democrat Gov cannot get anything done in Illinois.

He just took office, and his initiatives were too aggressive.
Now everything is delayed until they negotiate even ground.

I hope you're right. We don't need higher taxes and more spending. We need to eliminate public employee pensions.

This is how the game is played. He puts extremely aggressive drastic measures out there knowing it's too much but will push the end result further to that side of the table.

I heard a rumor that is how South Park used to get some of their more "questionable" shows aired. They would create two episodes (one being far more drastic that the one they actually want to air) so then comedy central would axe the idea for the fake one and they would get to air what they originally wanted.

I think previous governors and the union-aligned Democrats have been too successful. I would have preferred them to be less successful in implementing an income tax, gerrymandering, signing unsustainable pension giveaways, and more.
