lol one of the first comments on that article: "Well I was wrong, there is such a thing as a Super Idiot..."

Many Republicans (not all) at the state level--and certainly at the Federal level--have botched their responses to the pandemic, and it has put millions of their constituents' lives at risk

And it pisses me off that their response (or lack thereof) will result in additional lost lives and further economic repercussions in states like Illinois.

Are you talking about all those Republicans that were hammering Trump, calling him a "racist", when he prohibited air travel from China at such an "early" date? And by "Republicans", I mean Democrats.

For the record, I believe Trump botched it as well by not restricting air travel from China a month earlier than he did. Could you believe the crying that would have occurred then?

When did Governor Pritzker or any Democratic governor say that? Source? Any one with access to the information our top government officials had regarding this virus starting in January would certainly NOT have deemed the air travel ban racist and, quite frankly, that move should have happened much sooner than it did. I don’t fault Trump for that at all. He acted as quickly as he could have on that move but it was already too late. Italy restricted travel from China sooner than the US and look what happened there. I fault Trump and any of these idiotic governors on their actions since then. We had top government officials still calling the virus a hoax as recently as two to three weeks ago. I mean come on man. That’s inexcusable.

Never said Pritzker did, I believe it was Joe Biden who called it "xenophobic" to block flights in. Right now, he is the Dem's top pick to be President, so I'd say that gives him some credibility to speak for the party. Pelosi is another likely candidate, but I can't stand to listen to her for more than about three words, so I can't testify to that.

I'm not a huge fan of Trump, but do like some of his economic policies, especially his stance on China, he's been the main critic of them for most of his term, and that's All Good with me - I strongly believe that history will show China to be at best irresponsible, and at worst conspiratorial, on allowing the virus to make it's way around the world before the CDC could get its pants on. Personally, I wouldn't let Biden watch my lemonade stand while I went to the store for more sugar.

I heard on the news that the source of Covid19 cases in the USA was travel from Europe and not China so that made no difference.

From December thru March 761,000 Chinese flew into the U.S. During that time period over 300,000 people flew into the U.S. from just Italy. It was coming at us from all fronts.

Despite Trump shutting down flights as early as he did, the cat was pretty much already out of the bag. The only chance the world had at avoiding this pandemic was when it was first detected, the Chinese would have told the truth and accepted help to keep it localized. Those bastards would rather lie even when the truth would be less damaging.
