as if on cue human shaped turd Madigan pushes an income tax increase.

I wish the earth would just open up an send him to h#ll to burn.

so far to their credit, or more likely running the other way from Madigan, most of the other Dems are saying no.
Our Dems are pretty arrogant, for good reason. However, there were a few races that were too close for comfort last time, so they're concerned. If they vote for an income tax increase, then Republican challengers will seize on that. This won't matter in most of Cook County but in the areas which are not dark blue, such a vote could be problematic. It could also be a major problem for Pritzker if a moderate Republican runs against him.

Madigan doesn't care. He's never going to get voted out and he's probably going to be Speaker again. But voting for him as Speaker and voting for an income tax increase are different things.

Almost all the major cities tend to get taken over by leftists the determining factor is if there is enough votes in the rest of the state to avoid the state govt getting taken over by leftists. There are always suburbs and peripheral satellite cities that remain fairly conservative.
These things take time. They don't happen overnight. DuPage was one of those fairly conservative counties at one time, and Wheaton was one of those peripheral satellite cities that remained a conservative alternative to Cook (aka Crook) County.

An interesting article below about domestic outmigration state-by-state shows Illinois to Indiana ranks #9 nationally. Illinois to Wisconsin is #26.

70% of this outmigration is from Cook and four surrounding collar counties, unlike the downstate narrative that some folks like to propagate.

These people are not fleeing for better weather; rather they are fleeing onerous property taxes, egregious expenses/fines/tickets, and improving QOL in smaller metro areas.

I am not shocked to say the least, as someone who is considering making this move for my family and my business.

The other interesting thing to note is that much of Indiana's growth is in Marion County (Indianapolis), which is worse for Chicago CSA as this population does not contribute to metro area GDP like NWI.

As talent flees and becomes more mobile, so will companies, large and small alike.

I drove interstate from Iowa- Interstates 280 and 180 from I-80 to get to 39 south last week- driving back to Indiana. Talk about depressing, those smaller towns seemed ghostly and mostly hollowed out, starting to seem more like the remote rural areas of the Great Plains in terms of depopulation.

Interesting but not surprising 6 of the top 50 migration pairs feature people leaving Illinois. Even more interesting, though no less surprising, is not one of the top 50 migration pairs features people moving from X state to Illinois. I've noted this before as it seems lost in the focus on how many people leaving Illinois, that at least as big if not a bigger problem is people are just not moving here in the first place. Even California manages to post a net positive in-migration against a handful of states -- including Illinois.

You know this place is really spiraling when people are actually choosing to leave here to go to California. If you're gonna live in a flaming suckpile of a state, I guess you might as well pick the one with beaches and mountains and nice scenery.

I counted 43 of 50 moving from blue states mostly to red states. Gee I wonder what the long-term ramifications of that will be.

They aren’t.
Might be time to get out of that Illinois bubble and open your mind.
