Has anyone seen this news? I was kind of blown away by it myself. Congrats to Illinois

Crazy big swing and a miss by the Census Bureau, but not shocking: I can see it with my own eyes, and I can feel it in traffic haha.

Haters gonna hate.

Wow that is surprising. We must cheer the good news...and a growing population in Illinois is certainly good news!

Does this put Illinois back at #5, ahead of Pennsylvania once again? Per my calculations, I believe it does.

That seems closer to accurate, given the fact that Pennsylvania is much slower growing state overall with a much higher median age of the population than Illinois.

Yes, and Illinois' economy is significantly larger than PA.

So... if they got it wrong once (in multiple locales), how do we know they got it right this time?

The census always undercounts. In the 2010 census there were 16 million people missed. including 570000 omissions in Illinois

Illinois still very likely lost population compared to the 2010 census when factoring in both undercounts.
