Collinsville in in the Northeastern Section of the St.Louis metro area in
what they call down there "Metro East".Its a pretty nice community
with nice access to I-55 which will take you to Downtown St.Louis in
minutes. They have Good shopping nearby in Fairview heights with Dillard's
and Famous-Barr(soon to be Macy's) there at the Biggest mall in
Southwestern Illinois. The Metrolink Light Rail service comes across
the river into Metro east and you can go from there all the way to
Lambert airport for a small price and it beats travelling on the Busy
Interstates(I-70 or I-270) if you have to catch a flight quick.I
would recommend Collinsville to anyone, its far enough away from
the Hustle and Bustle of the City but close enough to see the
St.Louis Skyline to the Southwest

Collinsville is ok. What is it you are looking for? The schools are ok. It's really a middle of the road sort of community. Ofallon, Mascoutah and Shiloh are much nicer and have much better schools.

Default Collinsville, Illinois

I have lived in Collinsville for 7 years. We have 3 children, and feel that Collinsville is a nice, safe town. It does have the feel of a small town, and is very convenient to downtown St. Louis. Not all areas are perfect, but you just need to check out the neighborhood before you move. We live in part of old Collinsville, just north of the Brooks Catsup Bottle tower. I love the fact that Collinsville has a rich history to it. We even have a Collinsville Historical Museum at the Library. It is true, the schools aren't the best in the state, but they are far from being the worst. However, Collinsville has many great private schools to offer. Our children attend a Lutheran School and we love it. Don't let the word "private" scare you, either. Most all private schools offer scholarships. That is how we are able to send the kids there. Hope this info helps!
