My wife and I are visiting Rockford for 3 days to find a house to rent. We are looking for the following:

1. within 30 minute drive to Swedish American Hospital
2. 3-4 bedrooms (4 preferably)
3. safe and quiet

Where should we look?

If anyone has any experience (good/bad- who to avoid) with any rental/managment companies, let me know.

Your rent limit will determine where you will be able to look.

We're looking for rent <$2000/month. From what I've seen in ads, I think we should be ok in most areas.

If you are looking to spend around $2000 I would go North on 251 towards Roscoe or Rockton your drive time should be around 30-45 minutes depending on how many Red lights you hit and weather conditions and possibly less if you live close to the TOLL road but you have to pay a TOLL. The other choices would be on the East side of town and Loves Park or Machesney Park. Stay East of the Rock River in Rockford. This is my Home (http://www.newtohavasu.net/ - broken link)

Yes......with that limit, you'll be just fine.

I would look in the northern "burbs" of Roscoe and Rockton.
You could also easily afford a nice size house in Boone County.
Poplar Grove has some nice rentals outside of Candlewick Lake.

Thanks for the input. Is there anything more specific that someone can suggest? (any particular developments/intersections/landmarks) Anything that can narrow our search.

We don't want to be blindly driving all over the area (especially with gas prices these days). If there are particular areas where we can narrow our search, that would be great.

PHL76, when are you looking to rent? Time frame? We may be interested in renting our home here soon, as I may have to relocate for job. We have a beautiful 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath. There is a fourth bedroom in the basement. 2900 square feet with additional 1000 square feet in the basement. It's located, just south of Guilford High School, and is 10mins from the Sweedish American. The location is quiet great neighbors, and on 9/10 acre.

I'm currently in the market to rent a home. Moved to Roscoe 6 months ago and looking to upgrade in the area.
