Hi, my name is Chris and I live in the St. Louis metro area. I recently lost my job and now I'm looking for a new/good one.
I'm a general laborer with limited specialty skills. I'm very intelligent and hard working.
I need $15-$50/hr. and will travel 20+ miles.
I was wandering if anyone here knows of a high paying job around my area?
peace

You and thousands of others.

Chris, You need a college education to be able to get a good long term job. Everybody is a laborer in Southern IL and there are not enough jobs to support them. Pick a major you like and go to school for a degree. If you're intelligent as you say, you can do it. Work during the day, look for grants and go to night classes. You know the stats regarding the salary difference between those with college degrees and those without. Once you have a degree, NOBODY can take it from you. It's hard work but it will pay off and you can stop this cycle of everyone doing labor work.

I did it and so can you. I don't mean to sound harsh but I see it all the time. Southern IL is dying because it cannot attract any good jobs due to economic issues, but also, there are too many unskilled laborers.

That's kind of an oxymoron, isn't it? High paying job in southern illinois. a large % of southern illinois (in comparison to other regions of illinois) is on some type of government assistance. i believe jackson county has 60% of residents who were on some type of government aid in the past 5 years.
