I hope this recieves media attention for weeks!! The nation needs to see how the corrupt Chicago Democratic machine has not only raped our own state, but allow others to see what they truly voted for. These are the people that Obama was in league with, and now we stand the chance of him taking the same people into Washington.

FINALLY!! DW and I are doing our "Snoopy" happy dance. This article Ill. Gov. arrested in Obama successor probe - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081209/ap_on_re_us/blagojevich_corruption_probe - broken link) has interesting quotes. He's all about himself and the money. Nevermind serving the taxpayers, we of course, were meant to serve him and his pocketbook. I hope he squeals long and hard and brings lots of "friend" to the slammer with him. I hope he gets fined and has to pay fines to the state/taxpayers.
Slimy no good "schweinhund"!!

Um..the last IL governor was Republican. He went to jail too. How do you factor the Democratic Machine into that?

I only hope hope Stroger, Steele, Beavers, and the Cook County Board go next. They are just as corrupt and even more incompetent at covering it up.

We the good people of NJ would like to thank IL. It get's lonely being considered one of the most politically corrupt states in the nation and we'd like the company!

The state's attorney should have waited until Blago actually picked/bought the next senator from Illinois. Why arrest him now, when he could have brought down many other players? Also, why did that woman (I forget her name), who was originally in contention for senate withdraw her name a few days ago?

I don't necessarily disagree with this.

Frankly, a lot of the indictment seems like politicking as usual. Since no money or appointments changed hands, I wonder what the legality is of just insinuating compensation for specific appointments.

What politician doesn't maneuver for their own gain?

I know the feds don't move without almost ironclad certainty of conviction, but I gotta wonder if some of these charges might not stick.

That said, this guy is such an incompetent governor and has mucked up this state so badly, it only serves us citizens to get him out of office.

Like it or hate it, this Chicago style politics. Ryko would be having a field day with this mess. If the boys running the 'Machine" could find a candidate that would actually stay in Illinois for four years and live in Springfield ...... well that's a dream, too. It's like trying to get Daley to live in the "projects" on the southside. The only way to clean it up is the unceremonious sweep of everyone elected in Springfield. H*ll will freeze over first. The best we hope for is a good old fashioned gathering of 1M+ irate citizens to protest in the offices and march in front of the playpen and hope it don't turn into a lynching. . .

Talk is cheap. My constitutional trial lawyer friend says intent is the hardest thing in the world to prove in a court of law even with circumstantial evidence. Let's send him to Texas Judge Joe Brown.

From what I have been hearing on tv and trying to read on the internet, since he is an elected official, different circumstances apply. That is why they didn't pursue something with his wife today(even though she can be heard on the recordings, she is not an elected official). This will be so interesting to see how it all plays out!
