According to this list made by the publication The Corporate Crime Reporter, Illinois only ranks number six in terms of public corruption! I know this article came out in October before Blago-gate, however... But it's scary that there are other states where things could actually be worse...

Here is the top 10:

Louisiana (1)
Mississippi (2)
Kentucky (3)
Alabama (4)
Ohio (5)
Illinois (6)
Pennsylvania (7)
Florida (8)
New Jersey (9)
New York (10).

Living next door to Illinois, I am shocked it isn't #2. (should have been along time ago!!!) I'd agree that in the past that number 1 was in new orleans!!! Since the disaster, I don't know if it's gotten any better.

Well, if you live IN or NEXT TO Illinois, it would seem that the corruption was larger or of more importance because it's what you hear about. After this Blago ridiculousness, I would think that Illinois would jump to number one in terms of public perception. But corruption is a larger problem in at least a few other states, even if we get more attention and have a more famously corrupt major city.

well the reporting methodology has something to be desired. Specifically, it only reports corruption warranted by federal prosecution. I'd imagine IL has numerous state level corruptions. I wouldnt be surprised if taking into account state level prosecution, IL would move up the ranking ladder.

Because in spite of what the RNC wants you to think, corruption is not a problem limited to Democrats.

I don't really see our Attorney General out there battling government corruption all that much, so I think this actually puts a great burden on Federal Prosecutors. I'd say that we would probably be LOWER on the list if you take State prosecution into account.

you think Lisa M will lose her job if she did battle government corruption all that much?
