I'm going to be attending SIUE starting in the fall semester and am looking for a house, preferably, or an apartment to rent while i'm there for 3 years. I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck but don't want to miss out on a night life. I'm looking for something under $500 per month. Also an area with a low crime rate would be ideal. I've looked at Edwardsville, Glen Carbon and the surrounding towns and would like to get some suggestions from locals that live around the area.

Hi, Marco: If you're looking to be close to SIUE to stay in the thick of university life, then you'll want Edwardsville or Glen Carbon. It's not much of a commute from Collinsville or Maryville, but you might be a little farther removed from campus than it sounds like you want.

I have had customers who gathered up a group of friends to rent a house in the area rather than an apartment or have had a parent or set of parents buy a house for their kids and their paying roomies to cover part of the mortgage cost.

If you have more specific questions, don't hesitate to ask and good luck at SIUE.
