In this current market, is it advisable/profitable to invest in chicago downtown or near loop versus any suburb with 250k range for property.
how is the apprectaion in chicago downtown versus suburbs?where it is easy to rent property?

The overbuilding of downtown condos is a plague that will harm real estate prices for a very very very long time.

That said, the quality of property that one could purchase even in the depressed real estate market of today in ANY suburb for $250K is unlikely to be much to hope for any major appreciation -- that is BELOW land value in most desirable suburban areas.

There are a handful of exceptions, and it MIGHT be possible to get lucky renting out a suburban townhouse or condo, but with a "one off" you really have to have a LOT of depend to prevent that from going vacant for any length of time.

I would advise against making a first time real estate investment at this time, as extraordinary volatility favors the experienced, not the newbies...
