I am a responsible and ethical hunter who is looking for an opportunity to hunt geese and/or bowhunt for deer in northern and central Illinois. For years I have been hunting public land, but am frustrated with the lack of ethics and respect of other hunters. I am willing to work and/or pay for the privilege of hunting on someone else's land. Thanks in advance!

Have you been in Central Illinois lately? There's always been good fowl shooting at Browning and Lacon. Fulton County off IL 97 opened several thousand acres of wetlands and water with new blinds and trolling only. Anderson Lake and Banner Marsh are nearby.

The private land in IL is either in crop or cattle. There are several 1000+ acre farms in Mason County, but I don't know if you'll get lucky. Most farmers stopped long ago due to dead cattle, ruined crops, and the mess left behind from field gut, etc.. .

A good hunting area to check out is Jim Edgar Panther Creek.....operated by the Department of Natural Resources....with hunting cabins available.

A lot of farmers or those leasing the land in the area about 20 miles north of Springfield will not allow outside hunters as the farmers/those leasing want to hunt their land.

Happy hunting....we sure have lots of turkeys and deer.....in fact the deer are too plentiful and have become a nuisance to those on the highways.
