Crime skyrockets in 1 county, plummets right next door
Guess which government just got tough on illegal immigrants?
WASHINGTON – One of the wealthiest counties in America reports crime skyrocketing by 22 percent in the first quarter of 2008, while its neighbor saw crime plummet by 19.3 percent in the same time period – coinciding with a get-tough policy on illegal immigration.
Prince William County in Northern Virginia, a bedroom community for the nation's capital, made national news late last year with a crackdown on illegal immigration that supervisors believed was triggering higher crime and lower living standards.
Prince William County reported a 19.3 percent decline in crime, with chairman of the Board of County Supervisors Corey Stewart attributing the downturn to the hard line the county has taken toward illegal immigrants.

As a local resident i see the massive impact that PW's action has had on Northern VA. Prince William is going on an upswing while Fairfax is facing more problems.
I see this as a case of you reap what you sow. Prince William's govt listened to infuriated residents and took action, Fairfax didnt listen. PW's doing better, while Fairfax is getting in more trouble.
Yep! I do notice that the pro-illegal people are not posting in this thread. Guess that they do not like the facts.

Since when was the opinion of one man fact? I don't normally respond to WND articles but just had to say that.

Two more sources. These are both local papers in Northern Virginia.

Crime doesn't just drop off for no reason.. more than likely it was their enforcement of the law against illegal immigration... since that was about the only significant anti-criminal activity in recent months...

Recently, Prince William County reported a 19.3 percent decline in crime, with chairman of the Board of County Supervisors Corey Stewart attributing the downturn to the hard line the county has taken toward illegal immigrants.
"One quarter doesn't tell us a lot," said county police spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings. "It shows us where they may be some trends developing," however, the statistics won't mean much until the second quarter figures are released at the end of August, Jennings said.
Again, since when does the opinion of one man become fact?

Or might it have been the extra help they got from hiring more police?

Stewart also said that the hiring of more police officers helped contribute to the declining crime rate
Again, all i see are opinions not facts.
