2M CSA and 1.8 if you add Madison (Anderson, which is a direct suburb of Indianapolis and a donut county) but not Indy MSA by their request. In terms of nightlife, that 2M access is about accurate as people come from as far south as Columbus and as far north as Muncie to enjoy Indianapolis offerings on a continual basis. That also includes Kokomo in which Muncie and Kokomo are completely separate areas even though they are both a stones throw away.

msam-with that kind of reasoning we might as well include Bloomington and Monroe County in the Indianapolis count because I go shopping in downtown at times, my H enjoys an occasional Colts game, and we went to a concert there a few weeks ago. Or perhaps Marion and Hamilton County should be included in the Monroe County count because citizens of those areas enjoy driving down for football and basketball games?

I'm not going to get into a debate on what the population count does or should include, but it does seem rational to me to include counties that are directly geographically adjacent to Marion and not counties or cities from which citizens visit Indy at times.

You are smart enough to know that the unnamed poster continuously distorts facts as it suits him. This was just another example of that.

There are 6.5 million people in the Indianapolis metro if we include all of Indiana. It makes sense, people in Evansville and Fort Wayne occasionally visit Indianapolis for both business and pleasure.

Marion (903,393) + Hamilton (285,723 - Doughnut) + Hancock (70,002 - Doughnut) + Shelby (44,436 - Doughnut) + Johnson (139,654 - Doughnut) + Morgan (68,894 - Doughnut) + Hendricks (145,448 - Doughnut) + Boone (56,640 - Doughnut) + Brown (15,242 - NonDoughnut) + Putnam (37,963 - NonDoughnut) = 1,767,395 add Madison (131,636 - Last of the Doughnut counties) and it's 1,899,031. It's not conjecture, it's math.

you guys need to really stop this pathetic bashing.
Cause #1 its a pretty accurate estimate to say Indy has 2M people. the metro is damn near close so we dont need to be *scientific* about this.
Msam gave a pretty good point about this.
So lets drop it and move onto the topic on hand.

Indy's CSA is above the 2 million mark as indicated by many sources including the US Census. It's the country's 23rd largest CSA.
