For an appeal hearing? Depends if you have a lawyer or not from what I hear. One of my sisters had a lawyer for her claim and the appeal hearing was scheduled within 24 hours of her recieving the denial letter and occurred about a month later. A former co-worker chose to handle things on her own and her appeal took 6 months, 3 before there was a hearing where the court ordered her re-evaluated, and another 3 before they were done 're-evaluating' her and made their decision.

Can anyone recommend an attorney that's handled a Social security case well?

In western Indiana- My best friend used Fleshner Law a couple years ago and won on first appeal. Don't know if they've changed much since the name/partnership change but I doubt it, they're still the first ones anyone around here recommends Social Security Disability Lawyers | Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin Law Firm | Lawyers for Social Security Disability

My now-deceased BIL used Steven Jacobs in the Gold Building in downtown Indy and also succeeded on first appeal. Didn't even go to the hearing in person, the attorney went with all the documents and brought back and award with back pay letter. Steven R. Jacobs - Social Security Disability Attorney at Law serving Indianapolis and Bloomington IN

Thanks for the input. I have my disability and am grateful. I was awarded it without a hearing. I praise my attorney. It was a long and painful battle in many ways.

Best wishes to everyone out there.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I wanted to ask something that is relevant to this thread; where would a person with any of the liver diseases stand on getting Social Security?
