Has anyone else notice a major slow down of residential homes around the central Indiana area. My husband works for a concrete manufacturing company and their residential market has just disappeared. They are still doing ok due to the commericial projects. They did have a larger winter layoff than normal -husband not affected, but he did have to get a part-time job from Dec-March l to supplement his income since we had an unusually snowy winter. However, less houses being build equal lower income for our family. Anyone else being affected by this right now or is it just me? I am getting a little concerned because we have 3 children oldest will start 5th grade. I already lost my (job after 16 years) in March of this year due to the lack of automotive industy in Indiana. I am not having an easy time finding a job so for now I am working part-time at a restaurant. I will earn only one-third of my income this year compared to the year before. Not sure how much more of a cut we can take. Let me know if anyone is noticing this or maybe it is just me since I am worried about replacing the income I lost. Thanks again for any insight you have to offer.

That's rough, but I think with the glut of spec homes on the market, builders are slowing down to a trickle, building only on contract and not speculation anymore. As for automotive work, you may need to move a little south to Columbus or Greensburg to get in on the new plants going in. I'm also sure that with property taxes going up, people are slowing down on improvements and new building.

Best of luck to your family
