In my opinion, no.

I grew up in Evansville, and hate it with a passion.. but that's mostly because I'm more of a city person and Evansville isn't exactly a hip happening town. There are things to do involved with the universities and there are some bars and the casino and whatever if that's your speed, but as far as having great museums or art galleries or great restaurants.. no.

The racist comments earlier though are ridiculous. That never happened. I've also never really experienced any racism in Evansville, granted, I went to a private high school and elementary school where everyone was white and middle class.

As far as the original poster, I'd stay away from the apartment complexes mentioned, quite honestly. Especially Devonshire. As far as that area of town, my sister lived at Stonehenge apartments as a broke college student and actually really liked it. It was quiet and safe and she never had a problem. My other sister lived at Williamsburg on the Lake for a bit, which was fairly nice, but kind of overpriced in my opinion, plus a pain to get out of in the morning. Indian Woods has townhouses that are pretty nice and in my experience, it was always quiet there, but I haven't known anyone who lived there in a few years, so I can't attest to how it is now.
