Moving to Indy Area - Older Couple (Fort Wayne, Fishers: homes, to live in)

Our two sons live close to Indy and we want to move to be closer to our sons. Presently, we are in Fort Wayne. We have looked at Moorsville, Martinsville, Lebanon, and have heard good thiings about Avon and Plainfield. We really don't know a lot about the Indy area, so any comments would be appreciated.

Where would be a safe community for an older couple (both retired professionals) who do not want to live in the hustle and bustle of the inner city, but still be close to shopping?

Any comments about these mentioned cities would be appreciated or additional ones that are excellent places to retire and live.

Why not Fishers, Carmel or Greenwood???

Fishers and Carmel kind of have a reputation in the Northern part of the state where we live as being a "rich" area. We are retired and would only be able to afford a home in the $185,000 to $200,000 price range. We felt that we would be priced out of the market in that area.

I don't know about the Greenwood area or anything about it, so any comments would be appreciated. One son lives near the airport and the other near the north side of Noblesville. We would hope to be within 25 miles from at least one of them...closer would be fine.

Have you done a property search in Fishers and Carmel? I think you'd find homes in your pricerange in Fishers. You'd definitely find them in Noblesville too.

We moved to Fishers from Valpo. We knew the reputation, but didn't care. We were able to find homes in Carmel and Fishers in your pricerange (that was our pricerange too!).

Greenwood would be in your range as well. Greenwood proper is an established city loaded with shopping.

To be honest, you could live almost anywhere in the burbs you mentioned.
