VERY laid back place with abnormally nice people in an otherwise rude, and backwards state.

Nah, no one is rude. No one is backwards. Maybe to metro folks who never lived a life like that. Most those people stand out like a sore thumb. Kinda makes you want to toss a bluegill into their hands and see what they do, ya know? lol lol

Here in Lafayette area we tend to view you as dirty and uncivilized scum. We here seem to always want to create rivalries between other cities. If you say you are from Bloomington or South Bend, you might get a dirty look or two. This isn't really a stereotype for Muncie itself, but basically any other city in Indiana close to our size.

OH, Ball State is a definite party school! Have never been to a party since I am a hardcore southsider, but have heard many things.

@Interpol, Indiana, rude and backwards? That only happens in areas where there aren't a large amount of actual Hoosiers and like Sandbox said, metro people just stick out to a real Hoosier.

@Jeremy, You sound like how I am with my high school, you can say all of the great things of another school but mine is still better.

Some stereotypes of Muncie: There are lots of bowlers in Muncie. Bowling alleys are the equivalent of a country club in Muncie, Lots of euchre players in Muncie, especially women euchre players with gravelly sounding voices from years of too many cigarettes and too much whiskey. Figure 8 races are the most popular specatator sport in the Muncie area. Muncie folks #1 vacation spot is Dale Hollar, near Jamestown TN and Albany KY, the 2 towns where the vast majority of Muncie's 65,000 residents come from. A 4 day weekend is good excuse as any to take the new F150 down home show it off to all the friends and kin. Confederate flags are very popular in and around Muncie. Some of the more crative residents use them as curtains. Camping is very popular with Muncie residents. it's not unusual to see RV's from Muncie in Redneck riviera places such as Branson, Mo and Tunica, MS.
