The Black Hole gets larger!

After almost 20 years, the citizens of Wayne County have watched as almost $46 million has gone “into” economic development. Unfortunately, no one in county or city government can tell you where it went, or, more importantly, what did we get.

And now they are looking at another “field of dreams”...“build it and they will come”? Unfortunately, Sears is leaving our community, every shopping center has vacancies, and the west side strip mall has been virtually vacant for decades.

One of the primary tenets when the EDC was first created and the EDIT tax was first proposed was based upon the premise that 50 percent of the funds were to go to EXISTING business and industry to create and expand jobs for those companies that were here and operating ... and already paying their dues.

It is time to get back to the basics, because what has occurred over the past 20 years has not worked very well, has it?
