What is the status of construction on I-70 from the Ohio state line to Indy? We are headed out for Homecoming at Purdue. Back in August I had seen signs around Indy about this. Is it still going on? How is westbound I-70 as well as northbound I-65 from Indy? Tried looking at IDOT but all I could see were announcements back in August about the construction and delays. Wanted more up to date info for now. Any preference to going through town or around to get to 65? Thanks. Can’t wait to get “Back home again......in Indiana.....”.

I haven't seen any announcements or closures for this weekend yet but I'm sure there will be some. Currently there is constructions on I-65 between downtown and I-465 on the northwest side. I-865 on the northwest side also is one lane both directions, though it's such a small spur it may not matter. The biggest issue will be construction they've been doing on weekends on I-465 on the northeast side, taking it down to one lane causing lengthy backups.
This site is specific to Marion County (Indianapolis) and will likely be updated in the next day or two with any lane restrictions for this weekend but I would expect some.
https://www.in.gov/indot/3941.htm There is a sign on I-70 as you get to I-465 that show how long it will take to get to I-65 toward Chicago going through downtown and going around on 465 so watch for that. Same coming back on I-65, there's a sign showing I-70 toward Dayton the time going through town as opposed to around on 465.
As for I-70, I know there is construction around Richmond as well as Greenfield. I don't think either are causing backups that are that bad but I think at least one direction may be single lane in those areas.

Thanks for the update. I know the sign you’re talking about for the times to get to I-65 so will watch for it. I had forgotten about 865, think we ran into that back in August. We will be going through there on Friday morning so at least won’t be dealing with weekend construction. Also, going back home a different route so that wont be an issue.

Road construction in Indiana is quite possibly the biggest joke of any state I've ever lived in, and I've lived in many. I could write quite a bit more, but it would make my blood pressure rise too much.
