Please tell him THANK YOU for us up here!

We just don't have the man power or resources to get it fixed before March w/o help from like your SIL.

If I see any trucks from NC (anywhere really) in my neighborhood, I'll be sure to give em cups of hot chocolate, and a warm thanks and an offer to use our bathroom if needed, lol.

I will give him the message. Last I heard his crew was around the horse farms in Paris. Hope the power and everything else gets back to normal soon.

I tried to post earlier, but I think the forum ate my post.

I would be *very* hesitant about buying a house in the 47714 of Evansville. The area is quickly becoming run down by people who live in 47713, and most of the home prices reflect this change. Crime is up in that area as well.

Newburgh/Warrick County is a great area to raise a family. It's very safe (I grew up there!) and has much more of a country feel than Evansville. You can normally get to Evansville in about 30 minutes from anywhere in Warrick County. 47715 in Evansville is a nice area, too. I rented an apartment in both 14 and 15 (as the locals say for 47714 and 47715) and 47715 is MUCH more preferable than 47714.

Default 47714

i disagree with this because we live in 47714 and it is an extremely nice and safe area. it doesn't sound like you want to live in e-ville anyway, but if you are at all considering it -- just physically check it out because things can change sometimes street by street all over e-ville (not just in 47714). good luck!

Default Evansville, IN

I moved to Evansville four years ago and live in the 47715 zip code area. This would be considered the Northeast side of town. I have enjoyed living in this area and have always felt safe. I have never felt there is a huge crime wave in Evansville anyway. There are things that happen here as well as in any mid size city. However, I have never felt unsafe in the various parts of town that I have been in. There are several new apartment complexes that have went up in this area recently as well as some great buys on homes due to the economy. The policemen that I have met here have always been polite. I have not heard any negative comments about the police force since I have lived here. I am unfamiliar with the school system here due to my children being grown. Good luck on your future endeavors!

Evansville, IN is a strange little town. All most all white (90%), German (like a little nazi germany). Here's a strange feature of Evansville: Most restaurants don't deliver. If your tired after a hard days work and you lay back and want to order some good thai food or chinese food ... forget. The restaurants don't deliver ... you can go get it. This is a fair sized city too. The only places that deliver are pizza restaurants ... don't you find that strange. I've never been in a city this size and have so many restaurants no deliver and I live in a resort style community. Isn't that strange?

Your claim is erroneous. There are places that deliver.

I noticed that Evansville's crime rate is just above the US average. That's very good for a major city of any size, considering that that includes a wide range of communities.
