I'm from Chicago, but moved to South Carolina in the 90's and I now dwell in central Indiana. I need insight on Muncie because I would like to transfer from IUPUI to Ball State.

I understand that Ball State is a fantastic university with a good reputation, but what about the surrounding community? I've heard some not-so-nice things about small Midwest cities like Muncie in general. Thanks

I'm from Texas but have gone to Indiana over the years quite a bit (at least twice a year if not more) as my parents are from Anderson, Indiana which isn't too far from Muncie. I have cousins that live in Muncie. All of them are professionals and doing quite well. Raising their childen ect. in the Muncie area. Yes, it is small town but if you are going to school what should that matter>? My dad was a graduate of Ball State as well as many of my cousins. You don't have to live there after finishing school. It would just be a temporary stop while you complete your course studies. Unless you find that you like the small town environment. :-) Good luck in your endeavors.

Default Ball State & Muncie

Ball State is a wonderful University. The area surrounding Ball State has grown into a very respectiable college type atmosphere. Don't venture down to the southside of Muncie. It's been in a downhill slide for many years. Sadly, the city fathers totally ignore the citizens of the southside.
