It has to be said - putting that young man on that lift to videotape the football practice was beyond stupid. It was known for days that high winds were coming and that there would be significant gusts that day. The university and/or the athletic department deserve to have the crap sued out of them.

If that boy was an employee, then it would be a Workmen's Comp claim.

Well, ND managed to lose 28 to 27. What a horrible performance and bad week. Brian Kelly killed his team’s young videographer by placing him on top of a 50 ft top-heavy platform in hurricane force winds and then managed to have his inept team lose to the lowly Tulsa Hurricanes…that is a double-double for Kelly in one week after being smothered by Navy the previous week. I say bring Weis back and spare me more heart pain.

Charlie checked out ... and I bet he's snickering. I'm sure he's sad about snickering, but that's what all the spoiled brat alumni get. They wanted a glad handing suck up, well they got one in Brian Kelly and look where they are? I've been chanting SKC, SKC, SKC on various social networking sites: Shoulda Kept Charlie.

It was beyond stupid. Adults are supposed to be making adult type decisions when it comes to the welfare of these kids.

That moronic coach should be fired for that decision alone. A promising life cut short for no good reason whatsoever.

It'll be little consolation to the parents, but I hope they sue ND and win. Kelly needs to be canned immediately so the team, and the university, can attempt to move forward.

He's a lousy coach and a lousier human being.

SKC!

ND will make this go away, unless the family wants to fight it and who could blame them????

His legacy will be in his final entries on Twitter:

Declan Sullivan: Final tweet of student who died falling from camera tower | Mail Online

Kelly's defense will probably be that if he had voiced any concern, I wouldn't have let him go up that tower ... just wait.

I always said that hiring Kelly was a mistake, but ND being ND refused to actually go after a great coach. Instead they get this schmoozy goober of questionable reputation. I'll always be a fan, but ND is getting what they deserve because they refuse to get over themselves.

That defense would fall flat on its face. What 20 year kid doesn't think they're invincible?

The kid wanted to keep his job and he was not about to say 'No' to the Coach. If the Coach wanted him up there on that aerial lift platform to film the football practice, then that's where the kid went. He did his job right to the very end.

Had Sullivan expressed safety concerns to the Coach about being up on that lift platform in extremely windy conditions, Kelly would have likely said "What's wrong with you? Are you too chicken to play a role on this football team? Now get up on that lift platform or I'll drag your butt up there myself."
