We live in the Dallas, TX area currently, but are having problems finding some good, long-term programs for our low-functioning autistic son.

Can anyone tell me about Indiana, as far as being a good place to move for Autism programs or benefits?

Also, I would love any information in The Children's Campus, which offers intermediate residential facilities?

We would be willing to move if we could find the right fit for our son.

Thanks so much!

As far as benefits go--no. I heard on the news last night that throughout the state there are 22,000 developmentally disabled people on the waiting list for programs and benefits. Only 17,000 are being served. The news story was a follow up to the story that indicated our governor has issued orders to cut an additional 15% from all state department budgets including those that serve the developmentally disabled. In this state, autism falls into that category.

I know several families with autistic children at all ends of the spectrum, but they are in all in Bloomington so I can't comment on programs near Mishawaka.
