I currently live downtown (new condo in Fall Creek Place), but I'm looking for something cheaper and in a nicer area. Don't get me wrong, my place is beautiful, but drive one to two blocks and it can be a VERY sketchy! My boyfriend and I will be living together and we both work in Broad Ripple, so something with an easy commute is preferable.

We are looking for a 2 bedroom and want something that's not outdated, but also not with a bunch of "just out of college" kids... River Crossing in Keystone would be my example of that post-college sort of place. We're trying to find something in the $800 or less range, although we could afford more if we had to. So far on my list there is:

Brockton Apartment Communities
The Lodge at Trails Edge
Avery Point
Sandcreek Apartments
Lantern Woods
Connor Farms

The last 3 are in the Fishers area and are definitely newer, but the downfall with them is the traffic of 69. The first 3 are older apartment complexes without certain amenities, but closer to Broad Ripple. If you have any suggestions on these or ANYTHING ELSE in the area north of Broad Ripple, Castleton, Fishers, or Carmel that would be great.

I know you pay for what you get, so I realize we can't be too picky because of our price range, but hopefully some of you out there have had good experiences in an apartment complex in the northeast-ish area of Indy. Thanks in advance for your help!

The District at Saxony at 131st and Olio Road in Fishers should be very nice when it is completed. I like Hart developments.

I tend to prop up River Ridge a lot on here but you won't find a 2 bedroom under $1000 there. You might want to look at the Nora area. The commute down Westfield is easy and you'd likely find something in your price range. Make sure to do some research though as that area can be hit or miss from what I have heard/read.

What about some of the apartments just outside of the heart of Broad Ripple? The ones to the south and (particularly) the ones to the north seem very nice. That way you could still walk to work when the weather's nice.

The Retreat Apartments on 96th and Westfield is a good place (more North of Indy and not North East). It is on the higher price side, but it is definitely NOT post-college type. This place is not crowded, like the River Crossing in Keystone, where you couldn't find a parking space. Each unit has a garage and private entrance. The community is half rentals and half condo-owned units. Noise has not been an issue for us. The only problem we've had is the insulation. Insulation in terms of temperature (not noise), the draft is bad so it gets cold in the winter (we cranked up our heater) and hot in the summer (the airconditioning can't keep up). A co-worker lived here before and told me the same thing. Other than this issue, everything is great. Contact me via email, I'll refer you, and we'll both make some money - I think we each get $200 if you sign
